An Educational Assessment Officer designs, develops, implements, and evaluates assessment tools and systems to measure student learning, curriculum effectiveness, and institutional performance. This role ensures that educational standards are maintained and that assessment practices align with national or institutional goals.
- Assessment Design & Development:
- Create and review assessment tools (e.g., tests, exams, rubrics, performance tasks).
- Ensure assessments align with curriculum standards and learning outcomes.
- Develop formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Data Collection & Analysis:
- Collect and analyze data on student performance and learning outcomes.
- Prepare reports and dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Interpret assessment data to inform teaching practices and policy decisions.
- Quality Assurance & Standardization:
- Monitor assessment practices to ensure consistency, fairness, and validity.
- Implement standard procedures for test administration and scoring.
- Support accreditation and regulatory compliance processes.
- Training & Support:
- Train teachers and academic staff on assessment strategies, tools, and data interpretation.
- Provide guidance on effective feedback and student evaluation.
- Policy Development:
- Assist in developing institutional or national assessment policies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives based on assessment results.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Measurement, Psychology, or related field (Master’s preferred). - Experience:
5–7 years in educational assessment, curriculum development, teaching, or educational quality assurance. - Skills:
- Strong understanding of assessment theory and practice.
- Data analysis skills (Excel, SPSS, or similar tools).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Knowledge of educational standards and accreditation frameworks.
- Often a combination of office work and field visits to institutions.
