Al-Qabas Project Kick-off: Empowering Youth Through Technical Training

Aqaba, Jordan – August 17, 2023 – The Al-Qabas project has wrapped up its first-ever session, running from July 23 to August 17, 2023. Sponsored by the Aqaba Governorate Council and executed by the College of Advanced Vocational Training (CAVT), a Crown Prince Foundation program, this initiative aimed to provide essential technical training to young people in the region.

The project offered six different training programs, each focusing on key technical skills: electrical home installations, air conditioning and refrigeration, occupational health and safety, auto mechanics, auto electrical systems, and domestic plumbing installations. By the end, 80 young men and women gained hands-on experience and valuable knowledge. Participants and their parents were highly satisfied and hope the program will become an annual summer event.

The Al-Qabas project aligns with His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s vision of prioritizing technical and vocational education in Aqaba, recognizing its importance in developing skilled human resources.

“Al-Qabas” means ember or spark, symbolizing the project’s aim to ignite young people’s potential. The initiative’s name is also an Arabic acronym that reflects its mission: innovate to invest in your abilities; take initiative; contribute.

Ultimately, the goal of the Al-Qabas project is to tap into the energy and potential of Aqaba’s youth during their summer break, preparing them with technical and life skills for personal growth and future community contributions.
