HVAC and Building Automation Technicians ensure that residences and commercial buildings are supplied with water, heat and fresh, cool air. They plan and install ventilation, heating and water supply systems, including the necessary supply and discharge lines. Their responsibilities include building installations such as central heating systems, hot and cold drinking water supply, water pumps and sewage systems. They install sanitary ware in bathrooms and kitchens, as well as hot water heaters powered by gas, electricity or solar energy. They maintain and repair these systems and check them for leaks.
They also advise customers on energy-saving techniques and sustainable solutions, and install systems for rainwater and service water utilization. Moreover, they install energy-efficient and environmentally friendly systems like solar panels and heat pumps. After installation, they verify system functionality and ensure optimal settings. They integrate building management systems (i.e. smart home systems), use device-specific software (including apps) and instruct customers on the use and maintenance of networked systems.
These technicians are responsible for the installation and maintenance of central heating, drinking water (hot and cold), water pumps and sewage systems in functional buildings (larger and complex projects), including those with IoT features. As supervisors, they plan and oversee the work of smaller teams, ensuring compliance with deadlines and budgets for medium-sized projects.
