Specialists in this field focus on the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of vehicle electronics and hybrid/electric vehicles. They perform testing, dismantling, assembly, repair and maintenance work on alternative drive systems, such as electric motors, hybrid motors and fuel cell drives, as well as on the aggregates and individual assemblies required for their operation.
In addition to the tasks of an Automotive Mechatronics Craftsperson:
- Diagnose faults in alternative drive systems (electric motors, hybrid motors, fuel cell drives, etc.) and required aggregates using computer-aided diagnostic methods.
- Perform diagnostic and maintenance work on networked vehicle systems (CAN/LIN/MOST – BUS systems).
- Diagnose, maintain and repair comfort and convenience systems.
- Diagnose, maintain and repair hybrid and electric vehicles in strict compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
- Identify faults in high-voltage components using computer-aided diagnostic tools.
- Conduct testing, dismantling, assembly, repair and maintenance work on high-voltage components using safety protocols.
